Powder coating is applied in its dry form and then bound to the metal electrostatically (rather than painted on traditionally with liquid paint) and is then heated to allow a layer or “skin” to form on the fence. This layer is usually made of thermoplastic. Why such a fuss over what could otherwise be a simple paintjob? Simple. Powder coating creates a hard finish, which is very resistant to damage and scratching, that is much stronger than other types of paint.
Powder coated aluminum fence is in a class all its own. As beautiful as aluminum can be, even painted with liquid paint, it does not match the elegance and appeal of a powder coated finish. You can get your finish in a variety of colors, depending on the aluminum fence distributor you are using, and I highly recommend doing so. And remember, as much as the beautiful look of a powder coated aluminum fence is nice, the additional lifespan and lack of maintenance is what truly ends up being a thing of beauty.
